Fighting cancer? Count the New Rochelle High School soccer team in! The young men were among 750 who helped Swim Across America raise $1.2 million in this ongoing battle.
The summer event in Long Island Sound and pools in the region benefited the Cancer Support Team of Mamaroneck, the Tommy Palazzo Fellowship for Pediatric Oncology Research at Columbia University, the New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, the Swim Across America Research Lab at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and the Luis A. Diaz Lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Organizer Anthony “Tony” Sibio sent a thank-you letter to City School District of New Rochelle Superintendent Jonathan Raymond, praising the young athletes and coaches Jarohan Garcia, Gustavo Barbosa, and New Rochelle High math teacher Steve Newman. Well done, gentlemen! Learn more here.
