Art teacher Scott Seaboldt and a troupe of students from New Rochelle High School added paintings, songs and monologues to New Rochelle and Pelham’s annual three-day ArtsFest celebration last weekend.
They were among more than 150 artists, performers and artisans at ArtsFest, which brings live music, studio tours, a crafts fair, and other attractions to 36 venues. ArtsFest was organized and presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts.
Seaboldt, who teaches Advanced Placement and PAVE art at the high school, is a member of the Highbrook Studios artists collective in Pelham, one of several working spaces that painters, sketchers and multimedia artists opened to all for the weekend. Visitors met and chatted with Seaboldt, pictured in the photo in his gallery, and other artists.
Students from the TheatreWorks group and PAVE performed a series of monologues and songs called “Venti on the Veranda” at the patio outside the Wykagyl Starbucks. The performances:
- Aileen O’Leary, a senior, sang “What Baking Can Do” from the play Waitress.
- Jeba Karim, a senior, delivered a monologue called “Bubble World.” Elena Wasserman, a sophomore, sang “Ring of Keys” from the play Fun Home. Wasserman and Sneha Verghese, a junior, sang the duet “What Is This Feeling” from Wicked.
- Molly Smith, a senior, delivered the monologue “Cool Girl” from Gone Girl. Nate Dower, a sophomore, delivered a monologue.
New Rochelle High School alumni also were involved in ArtsFest. Colleen Maria, Rebecca Mills, and Victoria Rolett showed their works at HighBrook Studio. Artists Rebecca Feldman (Rebecca Drew Designs), Andrea Leghtmen (WYNNEN Wrist Collections), Maria Reyes (Maria’s Funky Jewels), and Selena Lozano sold their work at the ArtFest Artisan Market. Lozano and Rolett also displayed their works at downtown venues.
