We originally were scheduled for September 21, 2023 (6:30-9:30PM). Due to conflicts, we are moving our 23-24 Back to School Night to September 28, 2023 (6:30-9:30PM). During the first week of school, your English teacher will share various assignments based on your summer reading and will include them in calculating the first marking period grade. Good morning New Rochelle High School Families, I hope this email finds everyone well and rested. It has come to our attention that some students are sharing information regarding class schedules for the 23-24 school year on an app called turnitin.com. This app is not connected to our student information system and the information being shared is inaccurate. We have communicated to some of the students using the platform that the information is incorrect and that what is being posted on social media is misinformation. Student schedules will be distributed to freshmen and new students at orientation on Tuesday, August 29. Schedules for the rest of the student body will be posted on August 29 by 6:00 p.m. Our master scheduler and guidance department have done an amazing job of making sure all our students are enrolled in as many, if not all, the courses they requested for the upcoming school year. I am extremely proud of their work and dedication to this mission. In the event that you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly. Dear NRHS Community, As a means of preparing our students for college and career, the district will continue its tradition of administering the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) to all 10th and 11th graders. The PSAT results will be used to identify students who have the potential to participate in Advanced Placement (AP) courses and help to determine recipients for National Merit Scholarship during our students’ junior year. This past year, we used the AP potential data produced by the PSAT to increase student participation in AP level-courses. For more information on the PSAT/NMSQT, please visit their website at: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt This year, NRHS will administer the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. To ensure we position our students to do their best work, adhere to the College Board testing protocol, and protect the integrity of the testing environment, we will amend the school day. We will execute a modified schedule with dismissal at 12:30 PM, similar to what has been done in the past. More information will be available on our website.

This summer, current 9th through 11th grade New Rochelle high school students have an opportunity to take advantage of a unique summer enrichment program called “LEARN WITH LEADERS'' sponsored by Harvard Student Agencies, an affiliate of Harvard University. Complete the enrollment form with your child in order to secure your child’s spot in one of the six classes beginning the week of July 10 and continuing through July 28, 2023. Classes will be held twice per week, each class session is two hours for a total of 12 hours. Reading assignments will be given and class participation is expected. Your child must be passing all of his/her courses to be considered for placement. LEARN WITH LEADERS will be offered virtually by an Ivy League instructor from Yale, Harvard, or MIT. Your child will attend class in-person at the high school assisted by a New Rochelle faculty member. In the flier to students we state: “Are you interested in learning what it takes to have a career in medicine, work as a lawyer, be an entrepreneur, work in international relations and policy-making, perform coding or how to prepare an Ivy-League college application?” Please take a moment to review the exceptional career opportunities that will be presented and decide if this program is right for your child. This would be a great addition to your child’s college application and resume! Students who complete the 12 hour course receive a Recognition of Participation from Harvard Student Agencies. Enrollment is on a “first come, first serve” basis. To ensure equity across our schools, we have reserved spaces for all school zones in the District.
